This was the last wine we bottled from Burning Creek Ranch, a lovely site in the Sta. Rita Hills that we farmed for 5 years.  We used most of the grapes for our Sta. Rita Hills bottling but bottled up the best barrel to show off what the site can really do.  The vineyard sits on a north facing hillside on the eastern side of the appellation off of Santa Rosa Rd.  The solid there has a fair amount of clay in it, resulting in wines that have much more structure than some of the sandier sites in the area.  We have held onto this wine for a few years to let it mature and are happy to release it now when it is in its optimal drinking window.
